Your past only takes you backward, that is a fact. What happened yesterday, gave birth to today, definitely your today determines how your tomorrow will be. Most people carry the burden of yesterday into their today, now it is becoming part of them, and if care is not taken, they would still take it into their future. The past is not meant to be our partner but our teacher. We learn from it and make the necessary correction in our today, so as to build a better tomorrow.
Probably that is why most Christians find it difficult to cope in the race of Christianity (faith), because they live the life of the Old Testament. Whereas the New Testament has already fulfilled the promises of the Old Testament (They carry the past along). Why live in the past? when there are greater promises in the new one that will make one benefit and be partakers of the future. Focus more on your today, less on your tomorrow, then use your past as a correction. The phrase in the Bible where Christ said “All ye that are heavy laden, come to me and I will give you rest”, here Jesus is referring to those carrying their past (sins) with them, it makes them weaker and makes their journey through life unbearable for them.
The past makes us understand that there is hope for the future, since we were able to conquer and pass over it to remain alive. “When there is life, there is hope” if we are not careful, our past could return to us and remain with us. What we did yesterday or few minutes ago is now history and cannot be changed. Our today is a platform for correction where changes can be made for a better tomorrow.
The Seeds we sow yesterday is what we are reaping today, that seed is gone already. Why not sow a better one today. So you will have a better harvester tomorrow. Let the past remain a past, and let bye gone be bye gone.
